HELEN'S BIOGRAPHY

Helen Kagan was born in the cold Siberian winter of 1959, in what was then the USSR. She grew up looking for freedom, in a communist State where oppression and control were a daily reality.  It is telling of her talent and determination that she obtained Master's and PhD in Science and Psychology.

In 1991 her quest for freedom led Helen to the US. She brought a Jewish Heritage  and an unending thirst to explore the world and its meaning.  Living in Vermont, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and now – in Florida, she has spent much of her time as a social worker, therapist  and counselor developing and leading clinics for immigrants, and providing healing services to those in need.  Following her quest Helen studied many healing modalities, and equipped with another Master’s in Clinical Social Work, she has been ‘walking the walk’ integrating a mind-body-spirit philosophy into her professional and personal life.

 
Helen works mainly with oil. Her canvases show impressionist, and minimalist influences. They are varied, they are vibrant. Some are raw, some are refined, all are intuitive. There are Domes, and Bridges to the past, Cities in the rain, Abstract mementos, Dances and Fields of sunflowers. Helen’s Art reflects her deep and colorful view of life, her desire to bridge the realities and heal the past. She paints the past, present and future with pure boldness and emotion, always looking for ways to communicate on levels often not yet understood.  

Her artwork can play a valuable role in enhancing the healing to those in need.  Helen strongly believes in the interconnectedness of physical, mental and spiritual, and her passionate Art is a statement of that belief.

 ARTIST'S STATEMENT

 I believe that Art heals. As an artist and a healer, I have an intention to better the World, often just one person at a time.  My ‘Healing Arts’ – is my unique way to integrate Expressive Arts and the Art of Healing.

For many of us, Art is a spiritual path, a transformational process, a way of being. Throughout my life I’ve been learning to appreciate wisdom, beauty and infinite possibilities of every moment of ‘Here and Now’.  My work reflects my own experience of living in a multi-dimensional world, and My ‘Healing Art’ delivers this message through positively charged intention, healing frequencies of color, and energetically balanced composition.

Because each generation creates new concepts, paradigms, and new Art forms which can change the culture, I believe my 'Healing Arts' as a powerful and passionate form of self- expression, becomes a vehicle for emotional, physical, mental and spiritual well-being in a viewer.

EXHIBITIONS

In the last couple of years in FL, Helen successfully participated in 10 juried shows, was presented at the City Hall of Hollywood for the ‘Art in Public Spaces’ solo 3-months display (23 pieces), was a featured Artist at ‘Osceola32’ Gallery for ‘Metamorphosis’ (22 pieces), and won a few competitions. Helen’s ‘Healing Art’ was exhibited at the galleries, shops and private venues in VT, WI, MN, New York, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood, Boca Raton, Sarasota, and now – is on display in several Galleries in Stuart, FL. See ‘Exhibitions’ link for detailed info and locations.
